Perry Carnegie Library Entrance

This weekend, Perry Hometown Heritage is hosting an event to coincide with their World War I exhibit at the Carnegie Library Museum.

Iowa State Curator Leo Landis will be leading a genealogy workshop at 2 p.m. this Saturday. Hometown Heritage Research Assistant Alissa Whitmore says they’re excited to bring Landis and all his experience in for the special event, and she describes what he’ll cover. “What we’ll be offering with this is essentially a World War I-themed introduction to genealogy. We’re going to be kind of focusing on finding your World War I relatives, as well as just kind of looking more closely at resources that are available for looking at the early 1900’s.”

Whitmore adds, the program was made possible thanks to a $1,500 donation from the Bock Family Foundation, awarded at their spring grant presentation. The workshop is free, but registration is required because there are only 20 spots available. For more information or to register, stop into the Carnegie Library Museum or reach out to Whitmore by phone at 515-465-7713 or email at info@fcctrust.org.
