The only offense produced by the No. 4 Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers softball team (27-4 overall; 9-1 RRC) Monday night came off of home runs. The output proved to be enough for the Tigers as they topped the No. 5 Winterset Huskies, 4-1, last night in Adel. ADM pitcher Abbie Hlas uncharacteristically walked in a run with the bases loaded in the top of the second inning for the Huskies lone run. The Tigers scored four unanswered runs the rest of the way, highlighted by a three-run home run by eighth-grader Olivia Tollari in the bottom of the second inning. Tollari, who home run was the first of her varsity career, joined the Fuller’s Petroleum Postgame Show last night to talk about her milestone extra-base hit. “Well, she was pitching me outside most of the time,” Tollari said, “Then, I thought she was going to pitch something high (after that), so once I saw that it was pretty much dead center, in the middle of the plate, I swung as hard as I could and I guess it went over (the fence).”
Senior Ashley Tennant added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth inning with a solo home run, her 11th of the season, to give ADM a 4-1 final score. The win improves ADM’s overall mark to 27-4 and their Raccoon River Conference record to 9-1. Weather permitting, the Tigers resume their season tonight on the road against Chariton. Varsity first pitch is set for 7:30 p.m. at Chariton High School.
