The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Monday in regular session.
The Board approved hiring two part-time deputies for the Greene County Sheriff’s office with Caleb Jans and Matthew Silbaugh, a Statement of Understanding for Greene County Service Coordinator Ellen Ritter with Central Iowa Community Services, appropriating 85-percent of the County’s 2019 fiscal year budget and renewing the County’s insurance coverage plan with a slight increase in Iowa Communities Assurance Pool (ICAP) and a slight decrease in workers compensation. Additionally, the Board accepted the Greene County Treasurer’s investment report for May of $5,682,955 and issuing 265 driver’s licenses last month. They also approved abating $2,953 of property taxes for seven properties.
Finally, the Board heard an update from County Engineer Wade Weiss. The Board agreed to pay for the $52,000 pavement project through Dana with Local Option Sales and Services Tax (LOSST) funds. Weiss noted that pavement patching is starting up along the official route through the County ahead of the Register’s Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI) coming through on July 23rd and 24th.
