A Greene County High School organization recently received a state award for its volunteerism efforts.
The Interact Club was honored with the Governor’s Volunteer Award. It recognizes volunteers who give their time and talent to help fulfill the missions of Iowa’s nonprofits, charitable organizations and government entities. The Interact Club was selected for the 20-Year Length of Service Award by Mark Lowe of the Iowa Department of Transportation for the Adopt-A-Highway Program. Students in the Interact Club help with various community activities such as ToddlerFest, the Jefferson Parks and Rec’s Zombie Run and other activities.
More than 500 awards were presented this year at several locations around the state. Governor Kim Reynolds and Lieutenant Governor Adam Gregg gave the award to the Interact Club during a special ceremony, held earlier this month, at Southeast Polk High School.
