It was a pitching duel for six innings between a Perry sophomore and a Carlisle senior. In the end, the veteran lefthander proved to be too much. Isaiah Henrichs outdueled Keeghan West Monday night as Carlisle remained in first place in the RRC defeating Perry 5-1. The Wildcats took a narrow 2-1 lead into the seventh inning before finally figuring out the sophomore West. Four consecutive singles along with 2 walks and a hit batter allowed the Cats to score three times and give Henrichs the necessary insurance. Henrichs walked two in the final inning but finished the potential rally with his 10th strikeout of the night as Perry stranded runners at first and second in the seventh inning.
The Bluejays mustered only one hit off Henrichs which was an Aaron Lockwood infield single in the bottom of the second inning. Lockwood scored the game’s only run when he crossed on a wild pitch. Perry missed some early opportunities after three Wildcat errors and five base on balls. The Jays blew a suicide squeeze play and then a missed signal cost them a chance at a big inning as well. West took the loss pitching 6 1/3 allowing five earned runs. He did not strike out a batter. He was aided by his defense who threw two Wildcat runners out at the plate including an inning ending double play in the seventh on a strong throw from Austin Carpenter.
CArlisle remains in first place improving to 9-1 while Perry falls to 5-4.
