The combination of dominant pitching and home run hitting led the No. 4 Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers softball (25-4 overall; 8-1 RRC) to another Raccoon River Conference win Tuesday night in Adel. As heard live on True Country K 107.9, raccoonvalleyradio.com and the KKRF mobile app, the Bondurant-Farrar Bluejays flew into Adel to complete their league season series versus the Tigers. With the help of ADM coaches and several parents, the varsity teams were able to get their game in despite super saturated field conditions. ADM smashed three homes runs, and sophomore Abbie Hlas threw a one-hit shutout in a 10-0 victory in six innings over the Lady Jays. Sophomore Sierra Wyant opened the Tigers home run brigade with a two-run shot in the first inning to open the game’s scoring. Leading 3-0 in the second, ADM senior Ashley Tennant smashed a three-run home run as part of a four-run frame, extending the lead to 7-0. ADM freshman Brooke Hickey closed the game with a walk-off two-run home run as the Tigers led 8-0 in the bottom of the sixth. Hlas recorded 10 strikeouts, one walk, and hit one Lady Jay batter in her 25th victory of the season. The win improves ADM’s overall record to 25-4 and their Raccoon River Conference mark to 8-1. Weather permitting, the Tigers host Boone this evening to complete their Raccoon River Conference season series versus the Toreadors. The Tigers won 5-3 over the Toreadors in Boone back on May 30. Varsity first pitch is around 7:30 p.m. tonight in Adel.
