acgcThe ACGC softball team hosted their inaugural Charger tournament in Guthrie Center on Saturday. They won their first two games, but unfortunately came up a run short against Underwood in the Championship.

The Chargers started the day with a 12-2 victory over Boyer Valley. The highlight of the game came off the bat of senior MaKayla Hoing. Hoing smashed a grand slam in the bottom of the first, ultimately bringing home the game-winning runs. This is Hoing’s first home run of the season, and the team’s ninth, tying last season’s mark.

With the win they reached the semifinals, where they executed their first shutout of the season with a 6-0 payback win over West Harrison. The Hawkeyes edged the Chargers late last month with a 6-4 win in Guthrie Center. With the win ACGC advanced to the finals to face Underwood. The Eagles edged out the Chargers 2-1 to win the tournament.
