acgcACGC Head Baseball Coach Dana Fink has used about every permutation possible to position the Chargers to a win. After a dozen tries, he finally found a winning lineup. The Chargers finally secured their first win of the season after dispatching East Union 10-3.

After falling behind 3-2 in the 3rd, ACGC used a seven-run bottom of the 4th to take the lead. They never looked back as they scored eight unanswered runs to improve to 1-11 on the season. Eighth grader Reid Rumelhart utilized his family heritage to his advantage, going 2-3 for two runs and an RBI. Senior Garrett Walhovd also registered two hits in the victory. Senior Caden Wardyn had the best start of any Charger pitcher, going 6 ⅓ innings, striking out eight Eagle batters, and allowing just one earned run.

On the other side of the complex, the ACGC softball team couldn’t quite come up with the same winning lineup, as they fell to the Coon Rapids-Bayard Crusaders 9-6. CR-B’s ninth batter, senior Taylor Pevestorf, went 2-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored to lead the Crusaders to an 8-2 overall record. Offensively for the Chargers, Kylie Young had an impressive performance at the plate, going 2-3 and driving in 3 runs.

Mady Kelsey also broke a Charger record with her fourth home run on the season. The baseball team will hit the diamond again tonight at Van Meter, while the 5-8 softball team will host their tournament in Guthrie Center tomorrow.
