The Panora City Council will meet in regular session tomorrow.
The Council will discuss the second reading on ordinances increasing water and sewer rates. At the previous council meeting the first reading passed on a 3-2 vote. Council members who voted for the increases say they will help fund infrastructure and other components to make the water treatment facility more efficient in the future. Council members who voted against the increases say they may deter future residents from moving to Panora and there could be cuts to other departments that would give the City the funds to pay for the facility improvements.
Following the rate discussion and possible formal action, City Electrician Doug Long will give an update on the recent improvements to the City’s electric substation. Other action items include: the first reading on an ordinance amending Electric Utility rates, a resolution amending the Energy Cost Adjustment by one cent, a resolution authorizing road closures for Panorama Days, City credit card policy, and approving a contractor to excavate sediment ponds.
The meeting begins at 6:30pm in Panora City Hall.
