The unofficial results are in from Tuesday’s Primary Elections in Guthrie County. After all the votes were tabulated, the two County Supervisor incumbents received the most votes to represent the Republican Party in November’s General Election.
Current District Two Supervisor Clifford Carney narrowly defeated challenger Rick Kness. Carney received 90 votes, while Kness gathered 87. There was also one write-in vote. Everett Grasty had a little more breathing room in District Three. He received 91 of the 232 total votes cast and 39.22%. Challenger Randy Sparks received 79 votes, Joel Hester gathered 32, and Scott Calmer claimed 29 with one write-in. Grasty will face Kevin Dean Wirt in the General Election, after running unopposed in the Democratic Primary. J.D. Kuster also received the most votes in the District Four Supervisor race with 114, while Dana Tews gained an even 100.
Ray “Bubba” Sorensen of Greenfield also received nearly 83.5% of the votes in the Iowa House District 20 Republican Primary, while Dodge Perrigo of Redfield gathered about 16.4%. Sorensen will face Warren Varley of Stuart in the General Election this fall, after running unopposed in the Democratic Primary.
