Greene County bounced back from an eight error night in a losing effort to Class 1A Glidden-Ralston on Thursday by winning on Friday night in Monroe over PCM, 10-3 and they were charge with just two errors.
Senior Samantha Hardaway pitched the first five innings and she picked up her second win of the season. Junior Jenna Beyers tosses the last two innings, but most notably, Beyers went three for three at the plate with a homer, a double, single, and four runs batted in.
Eighth grader Carmyn Paup added three hits, including a double, and two RBI. Hardaway and fellow senior Faith Davis each had a single and batted in two runs, with two hits for freshman Lilly Muir and a single and RBI by freshman Danielle Hoyle. The Rams out hit the Mustangs 14-6.
Hardaway allowed six hits and two earned runs. She walked two batters and recorded two strikeouts. Beyers gave up no runs or hits in her two innings. She had two strikeouts and walked one.
Greene County trailed 1-0 after two innings, then scored twice in the third, twice in the fifth, four times in sixth, and twice in the seventh. PCM picked up a run in the second and two in the sixth. The Mustangs were charged with three errors.
Coach Tom Kennedy’s Rams are 3-2 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play, and 3-7 overall. The Rams host South Hamilton (Jewell) in Jefferson on Monday night.
