Kids Fest 2018 1

There was inclement weather forecasted for Saturday morning, though it managed to hold off and the Perry Public Library was able to host a successful 2018 Kids Fest.

Library Director Mary Murphy says they had contingencies in place should the weather turn adverse, but she was happy they didn’t have to go to those plans this year. As it turned out, there were hundreds of people of all ages who stopped out at the library to take part in the festivities. Some of the attractions included: farm animals, face painters, a balloon artist, the Kiwanis Club’s kinetic sand table, Dallas County Conservation’s micrometeorite collectors, the Rotary Club’s miniature golf course, and various craft stations. The Perry Fire Department was also on hand to serve a lunch consisting of hot dogs, pork sandwiches, chips, cookies, and water for just $1.

Murphy was very happy with how everything turned out, especially regarding the weather, and she’s looking forward to another great Kids Fest next year. “This is the second year that the Perry Public Library has taken it over, we really enjoy doing it for the community. It’s a good time, they’re having fun and learning at the same time, so that’s the way you want to do it!”

Additionally, the Raccoon Valley Radio Big Red Radio was on hand at the event to broadcast live on air, play music, and provide public address services.
