School-aged children in Dallas County who have ever wanted to give summer camp a try, but were unsure if it’s right for them, have an opportunity to take a test drive in early June.

Dallas County ISU Extension is once again offering the “Taste of Camp” program at the Cloverwoods Camp in Boone. Extension Director Jeff Jackson says it should be a fun opportunity for kids to meet others from around the state, and to get a glimpse into what camp is all about. “Every year we do a ‘Taste of Camp’ for any of our 4-H youth, kindergarten through 12th grade, and open that up to them to be able to go. The younger kids, kindergarten through 3rd only go for a day, and the rest of the students go for several days. And it gives them a chance to explore the camp, get to know it a little bit more, (and) play some activities. Just have a good time out in nature, and enjoy and connect to each other.”

The “Taste of Camp” will run from June 11-14, and registration can be done online on the Dallas County Extension website, which is linked below.
