You may have noticed this week while driving around Perry that it looks more colorful. That’s because organizers have been preparing the City for this year’s Perry Fiber Art Fair by once again covering everything in yarn.
Volunteers for the event have been placing decorative warmers on more than 100 light poles, benches, and bike racks throughout the downtown area. Something new this year is they’ve placed several crocheted hoola hoops on the wall in Josh Davis Plaza, as well as some fiber pieces hanging from trees. Organizer Jenny Eklund says the fair will feature more than 14 artists exhibiting their work, demonstrations and classes for knitting, crocheting, and quilting, and specialty food and beverages.
Perry Chamber of Commerce Director Lynsi Pasutti says while the Fiber Art Fair isn’t an official Chamber event, they see it as a tremendous opportunity to show everyone just what Perry is all about. “It’s really exciting to see organizations and businesses put things on like this, and bring people to town and kind of celebrate community and what’s going on here. So (I) just encourage people to enjoy the day and get out and visit our local businesses in particular.”
The Fiber Art Fair will be held this Saturday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., with artwork and classes located at La Poste, Perry Perk, the Citizens Bank Gallery, and Betsy Peterson Designs.
