Extra base hits in the final inning helped the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers softball team (7-1 overall; 2-0 RRC) to their seventh victory of the season Wednesday night. As heard live on True Country K 107.9, raccoonvalleyradio.com, and the KKRF mobile app, the ADM Tigers paid a visit to Gary Creasman Field in Boone for a Raccoon River Conference matchup versus the Toreadors. Tied 2-2 entering the seventh inning, ADM strung together three straight extra-base hits, including a two-run home run from sophomore Sierra Wyant, to grind out a 5-3 road victory over Boone. Seven ADM batters came to the plate in the seventh inning. Wyant’s home run over the left field fence plated Morgan Meyer. ADM’s next two batters, senior Ashley Tennant and freshman Brooke Hickey, recorded back-to-back stand up doubles, scoring an additional insurance run before ending their night at the plate. Boone scored single runs in the third, fourth, and seventh innings in the loss. Sophomore pitcher Abbie Hlas struck out seven Toreador batters in a complete game victory for the Tigers. The win improves ADM’s overall record to 7-1 and the Tigers are now 2-0 inside the Raccoon River Conference. The ADM baseball team suffered their first loss of the season last night in Boone, falling 5-3 to the Toreadors. Both ADM summer sports teams resume league play tonight on the road against the Bondurant-Farrar Bluejays. Varsity pitch of both contests is set for 7:30 p.m. at Bondurant-Farrar High School.
