The Carroll Tigers blasted four homeruns Wednesday night in defeating the Perry Jayettes 13-4 in a Raccoon River Conference matchup. Senior Taylor Lux connected for a pair of two-run shots, while Laura Sweeney smashed a three run homerun and Sydney Haackenson added a solo shot. Carroll outhit Perry 16-6 on the night. The Jayettes picked up RBI singles from Gabbie West and Sidney Vancil, while Alyssa Kruger added a two-run double in the 7th. Eighth grade pitcher Jayna Kenney took the loss in her first varsity start lasting only an inning and two-thirds after giving up homeruns to Lux and Sweeney. Kruger pitched 3 1/3 innings of relief allowing five earned runs while eighth grader Peyton Tunick surrendered two runs in two innings. Perry (0-3) will look for their first win tonight when they host Boone in a JV/V doubleheader.
