On Monday, the four Republican candidates for the Guthrie County Supervisor District 3 Office expressed their remarks on Raccoon Valley Radio’s Special Edition Primary Election Meet The Candidates In Depth News Magazine. Incumbent Everett Grasty was joined by challengers Scott Calmer, Joel Hester, and Randy Sparks.
The one topic mentioned by all four candidates was law enforcement, particularly emphasizing improvements to the County Jail and the Sheriff’s Office. On that note, Grasty mentioned he would like to see all Supervisors ride along with Sheriff’s Deputies to get a better understanding of the challenges they face in Guthrie County. Calmer brought up the County Home as a possible location for a new jail facility.
Another common topic was repairs to roads and bridges. Grasty, Hester, and Sparks specifically mentioned keeping up with the times and adapting the County’s infrastructure to match developments in farm machinery and other vehicles. Economic Development and Board teamwork were two other common concerns.
