The Dallas County Board of Supervisors convened Tuesday morning in regular session.
The majority of the meeting was devoted to three different public hearings. The first was about budget amendments for the fiscal year 2018. The biggest amendment was adding the proceeds from the bond distribution for the law enforcement center. The Board approved the amendment, and following the hearing they approved an operating transfer to reimburse the capital improvement fund nearly $1 million that was borrowed for the bond fund. The next public hearing was further discussion of a potential road vacation of a portion of 288th Trail east of Adel. After hearing input from Doug Nichols, the property owner who requested the vacation, County Engineer Al Miller, and reports from the City of Adel, the Supervisors elected to not vacate the road at this time, but didn’t dismiss the possibility of revisiting the idea in the future.
The final public hearing was to discuss a software agreement with Tyler Technologies. Miller, as well as County Treasurer Mitch Hambleton voiced some of their concerns with the new company and the contract. In the end, the Board decided to enter into a contract with Tyler, and they will now begin negotiations on implementation of the systems. Other items approved included: an amendment to an application for the Tyson High Quality Jobs program; the abatement of $817 in mobile home taxes; and five drainage district assessments relating to routine maintenance. The meeting concluded with a closed session to discuss the purchase of real estate.
