The successful rookie season of the Panorama girls soccer program continues tonight at Panorama Stadium with a home playoff game.

The Panthers won 11 of their 15 matches in their inaugural year as a varsity program and the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union rewarded Panorama’s performance with first-round hosting rights in the Class 1A Region 2 bracket against the Kuemper Catholic Knights of Carroll (9-6). Panorama will have to overcome a two-week layoff, playing their last regular season game on May 14, a 9-0 victory over Clarke (Osceola) in Panora. The Knight have played four matches since Panorama’s final regular season match, winning three of those contests. A trio of freshman accounts for a majority of Panorama’s scoring this spring. The threesome of Audrey Cmelik, Paige Cmeilk, and Ella Waddle combined to score 55 of Panorama’s 79 regular season goals. The winner of tonight’s match advances to the regional semifinal round Friday, June 1 against the winner of Gilbert and Greene County at Gilbert High School. Tonight’s Class 1A Region 2 opener between Panorama and Kuemper Catholic kicks off at 6 p.m. at Panroama High School.
