perry library

The Perry Public Library is all about outer space with this year’s adult summer reading program, and coming soon they will be showing a classic of space-themed cinema.

On June 7th, the library will host a free showing of Stanley Kubrick’s science fiction film “2001: A Space Odyssey.” Library Director Mary Murphy felt it was serendipitous that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the popular movie and that the theme for the summer reading program is “Discover Space.” The film is rated G, so attendees of all ages are welcome, though Murphy cautions that the movie might be hard to understand for some of the younger audience members. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the library’s large meeting room, and snacks will be provided. The movie has a run time of 142 minutes.
