The previous two days saw Panorama sophomore Kolby Shackelford go toe-to-toe with Iowa’s best Class 2A golfers at Marshalltown’s American Legion Golf Course. Shackelford, an individual state qualifier as the meet medalist of the Lake Panorama National tournament, finished the Class 2A Boys State Golf tournament as the runner-up medalist with a 36 hole score of five over 145. The result was one stroke more than Dike-New Hartford senior Bo Weissenfluh, the 2018 Class 2A Boys State Golf Individual champion. Shackelford opened the state tournament with a first-round score of two over 72, putting him in a three-way tie for second place. His final round was one shot more than his day one score. Shackelford’s state tournament featured six birdies, seven bogeys, and a pair of double bogeys. Shackelford will continue playing competitive golf this summer on the Iowa Junior PGA tour.
