A little rain Friday evening couldn’t dampen the spirits of people in the Perry Hy-Vee parking lot, as the inaugural “Red, White, and Blue All-American Cookout” raised money for the Chamber of Commerce fireworks display.
Hy-Vee Store Manager Matt Rohe was grilling hot dogs for the public, and all they had to do was donate $5 to the fireworks fundraiser to get a meal. Members of the Chamber “Bucket Brigade” were also on hand to accept donations, and shoppers inside the store were able to round-up their totals at the register with the remainder going to the fundraiser as well. Rohe said from the cookout and bucket donations they raised nearly $300 in around two hours, and even more from the round-up.
Raccoon Valley Radio co-sponsored the cookout, and the Little Big Red Radio was also in attendance to broadcast live and play music.
