The Adel Public Library is gearing up for their 2018 Summer Reading program, titled “Libraries Rock!”

Throughout the summer they will be offering programs with a music theme for all ages, starting on June 6th with their kick-off event featuring the Blank Park Zoo. The program will be shown at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Following that, there will be several programs each week for all ages. June programs for children 12-years-old and under include: the Des Moines Symphony Academy presenting an “Instrument Petting Zoo” on the 8th at 10 and 11 a.m.; “Wee Watch ‘Sing’” on the 13th at 10 a.m.; learning about the Iditarod race and meeting a sled dog on June 14th at 10:30 a.m.; and a “Kazoo Band” with Pink Stew Entertainment on the 20th at 10:30 a.m.

As a reminder, the library encourages teens to volunteer to help with the younger children, and they can learn about volunteering opportunities on June 2nd at 11 a.m. in the “Bored Room.” The teen program will officially kick off with a “Make-Take-n-Bake” Pizza Party on June 7th. Other teen activities include: learn how to make “Sheet Music Art” on the 14th; play “Music Bingo” on the 21st; and face-painting on the 28th. Each teen program starts at 11 a.m., except the face-painting which starts at 10.
