With summer break now happening for Greene County area youth, Greene County Extension is offering some programs to jump start kids to keep learning while school is not in session.
Those kids going into fifth through eighth grades this fall are invited to participate in Greene County Extension’s Full STEAM Ahead Camps. There are three camps that focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) throughout the month of June. The first one is Robotics from June 11th through the 15th from 9 to 11am at the Extension office. The next one is Kids in the Kitchen from June 18th through the 22nd from 9:30am to noon at the Greene County High School Ram Restaurant. The final class is on photography from June 25th through the 27th from 9 to 11:30am in the high school art room.
Extension Director Lori Mannel says the different camps are a great opportunity for kids to get involved and explore new areas.
“They’re going to be learning some useful skills and it’s going to be fun. But it also may create a spark, ‘Gosh, I may want to pursue a career in the kitchen, in culinary school; or I love technology and robotics; or I really like the creativity of photography.”
Each camp is $10 per person. Space is limited so contact the Extension office at 386-2138 or stop in to sign up.
