Today the Perry Police Department will be saying goodbye to one of its longtime members, as they host a retirement open house for Officer Pat Jans.
Jans has worked with the Perry Police Department for the last 22 years, as well as one year with the Scranton Police Department. Throughout his career in law enforcement, he has been a member of the Special Response Team, a firearms instructor, ALICE instructor, School Resource Officer, and DARE instructor. The public is encouraged to attend the retirement party, which will run today from 2-4 p.m. in the training room at the Perry Public Safety Building.
