North Polk held Perry to just four hits Tuesday night as the Comets defeated Perry 5-1 in non-conference baseball action in Alleman. North Polk jumped out early on Perry starter Avery Meister scoring two runs in the second and three more in the third. Keeghan West and Kato Dougan provided relief for Perry out of the bullpen. One of the keys coming into the season was to develop and discover new pitchers for this summer after last year’s heavy graduation toll. Perry has used six different pitchers through the first two games this year. Offensively, West provided the RBI with a base hit in the 7th inning. Austin Carpenter led the way going 2-3. Perry (0-2) will return to Progressive Field Thursday for a battle with Greene County. Shawn Kenney and former Northern Illinois baseball director of operations Chris Carlsen will have the call on KDLS.
