Local law enforcement and search and rescue crews are still attempting to locate a man who fell out of a boat Thursday evening at Lake Panorama.
At 6:16pm Thursday, Guthrie County Dispatch received a 911 call from boaters at Lake Panorama regarding a missing boat occupant who fell in the water. Several emergency departments began a search that lasted until 1am Friday morning with no sight of the missing person. The search resumed this morning and there is still no sign of him. Panora EMS, Panora Fire, the Panora Police Department, Lake Panorama Security, the Iowa State Patrol, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, and the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the scene. Divers with the Southwest Iowa Dive Team are also assisting with the search.
Due to the rescue operations, Lake Panorama Association officials have closed the Main Basin and Marina Boat Ramp until further notice. The Main Basin is closed to all boat traffic and activities while the Marina Boat Ramp is closed to all vehicle and foot traffic. This closure could last through the weekend and will be lifted once law enforcement have completed their search.
The man’s name is not being released at this time. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
