Every Wednesday, the City of Perry provides yard waste pickup services, but they would like to remind residents to be conscientious about how and when they place it outside for pickup.
City Administrator Sven Peterson explains, “Something that Public Works and (the) Garbage Department has been having an issue with is folks putting their yard waste bags out like a week or more in advance. When those bags sit out there for so long and get rained on a couple times, the bottoms of the bag just totally disintegrate. When the guys go to pick them up, the whole bag falls apart, and everything is laying out on the curb. So if folks could just try and keep that kept under a lean-to or something like that, or in a garage, it would be much appreciated.”
The City picks up yard waste on a rotating schedule between the north and south sides of Willis Avenue. A copy of the schedule for the whole year was included in water bills. All yard waste except tree, bush, or brush materials are to be placed in paper yard waste bags, which are not to exceed 40 pounds. Tree, bush, and brush materials will need to be bundled and tied in maximum lengths of four feet. All items should be set near the curb in front of your residence by 7 a.m. on the day of pick-up.
