The Perry Parks and Recreation Department is offering an activity this summer that they believe will prove both fun and competitive.
They are organizing a summer swim team, and are looking for swimmers between the ages of 6 and 18 to participate. Aquatics Director Kami Kirchner says the league should be a lot of fun, while also being simple to get involved with. “The only requirement to join the swim team is you have to be able to swim one length of the pool without assistance, because that’s what you have to be able to do at swim meets. So if you can do that, it’s a fun thing to get involved with, and I would encourage everyone to come out and join up.”
The season will run from May 29th through July 13th, with practice held on weekday afternoons. Swim meets will take place Tuesday and Thursday evenings, with some taking place in Perry and others in different locations, so Kirchner advises potential participants that there will be some travel involved. Cost to join the team is $80 for one child, and $60 for any more after that. For more information or to sign up for the swim team, stop into or call the McCreary Recreation Building at 515-465-5621.
