A Greene County Medical Center nurse was recently honored with a special award.

Registered Nurse Jessica Brown was recognized as one of 100 Great Iowa Nurses. The award honors those nurses that have made “meaningful and lasting contributions to humanity and the nursing profession.” Brown has been with the medical center since April 2017 as the primary nurse for all patients receiving chemotherapy from the outpatient oncology clinic.

To be considered for the 100 Great Iowa Nurses award, a nurse must be nominated by a patient, their peers or someone from a hospital’s leadership team. Brown was nominated by retired pharmacist Bonnie Orris.

In the last few years, the medical center has had one other nurse receive the award, Clinics Director Jenny Taylor, who was recognized in 2016.
