Tail Wheel Fly-In/Drive-In 1

While it wasn’t necessarily the event they had planned, Walter Aviation and the Perry Municipal Airport were pleased with how their first ever “Tail Wheel Fly-In/Drive-In” went.

The event was held this past Saturday, and it allowed the public to view the operations at the airport, and support its runway expansion with a fundraising breakfast. Representatives from Walter Aviation were pleased with the turnout for the event, which included over 150 meals served throughout the morning. Attendees were also able to view some of the airplanes on the runway and in the hanger and learn more about the airport.

Unfortunately, two aspects of the event fell by the wayside due to the dreary weather. Organizers had hoped to send attendees up into the sky in some of the aircraft, but with too much cloud cover they elected to not risk it. However, Walter Aviation plans to make up that part of the event by offering airplane rides sometime in the coming weeks. Also, because of the weather they didn’t have anyone “Fly-In” for the event, so they didn’t give out any awards. In spite of the setbacks, organizers felt the event was a success and hope to do more events like it in the future.
