As Division I softball offers were coming in last spring, 2016 Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers graduate Molly Jacobsen had one thing on her mind when deciding to stay a member of the Des Moines Area Community College softball team. “I wanted to come back to DMACC and win a National Championship and be a leader as a sophomore captain,” Jacobsen said. “That’s the main reason I stayed at DMACC.”

Twelves months later, Jacobsen is the ace pitcher of the undefeated No. 1 DMACC Bears softball squad that will compete for the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Division II championship starting tomorrow in Clinton, Mississippi. Jacobsen, an Ole Miss softball signee, has registered a 23-0 record this spring, allowing three earned runs and striking out 251 batters in 133.1 innings pitched. The Bears will bring a 44-0 record into their national tournament opener tomorrow afternoon against the No. 16 Mott Community College Bears of Flint, Michigan. Mott CC enters the national tournament with a record of 30-15 overall. First pitch is 1:30 p.m. tomorrow from Traceway Park in Clinton, MS.
