The Lake Panorama National Golf Course played host to the 2018 West Central Activities Conference Tournament Tuesday. Panorama boys golf coach David Van Ahn told the Raccoon Valley Radio Network nine league schools came to Panora’s well know golf course for an 18-hole tournament yesterday. Van Ahn shared the Des Moines Christian Lions won the this year’s WCAC boys golf title with a low score of 321, having three individuals card scores at or below 80 strokes. The Van Meter Bulldogs take second place with a result of 363. The Panorama Panthers finished third overall with 365 points, Ogden taking fourth at 367, and Earlham placing fifth carding 380. The West Central Valley Wildcat boys golf team finished sixth in the team standings with 396 points.
Both Panorama and West Central Valley had a golfer make this years all-conference team with a top six finish in the individual standings. Wildcat senior Garrett Caltrider and Panther freshman Wyatt Appleseth each carded 85, tying for fifth place overall and securing a spot on the first team All-WCAC boys golf squad. Panorama’s remaining scoring golfers include sophomore Kolby Shackelford shooting an 86, junior Jacob Ismenger carding a 95, and junior Dylan Douglass scoring 99. West Central Valley’s other scoring members include freshman Grant Caltrider carding 93, and junior David Jones and freshman Evan Taylor each scoring 109.
Both the Panorama and West Central Valley boys golf teams enter postseason play in the sectional tournament Friday at the 5 x 80 golf course near Menlo. The top two lowest scoring teams and three best individual scores will advance to next week’s district golf tournament at the Lake Panorama National Golf Course in Panora. Friday’s tee time is 10 a.m.
