ADM Tigers

The final regular season competition took the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers boys golf team to the Perry Golf and Country Club Tuesday for a nine-hole Raccoon River Conference dual against the Bluejays. One day after defending their Raccoon River Conference tournament title, the ADM Tigers topped the Perry Bluejays, 168-191. ADM posted the meets two lowest scores with junior Adam O’Connor winning medalist honors carding a 40 and senior Micah Moyer scoring 41. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network caught up with ADM head golf coach Kelly Roder after yesterday’s dual win and said the performance wasn’t quite what he was hoping for. “It’s easy to have a little hangover with the way they played yesterday,” Roder said, “I was expecting a little bit more out of today, to be honest, especially gearing up for Friday’s (sectional tournament), I’d hoped we would be more on our game but tomorrows a new day and we’ll get back to work and prepare for Denison.”

The ADM boys golf team will compete for a second straight spot in the Class 3A state golf tournament starting Friday at the Denison Majestic Hills Golf Course. The Tigers will face golfers from Atlantic, Carroll, Creston, Denison-Schleswig, Glenwood, Greene County, and Harlan. Roder explains how ADM can advance past Friday’s sectional tournament. “The top two teams advance, if the host school happens to finish in the top two then they’d take a third team,” Roder said, “As far as individuals, they’ll take the top two individuals and ties that aren’t on a qualifying team.”

The sectional golf tournament tees off around 10 a.m. Friday.
