IMG_2397The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.

The Board reviewed bids for three upcoming bridge and culvert replacement projects. Gus Construction out of Adair submitted the low bid for all three projects, however the bids were about $125,000 more than what County Engineer Josh Sebern estimated. The secondary roads department will review the bids and formally submit a recommendation at next week’s meeting. Graves Construction out of Spencer and Progressive Structures from Elkader also submitted bids. Sebern also informed the Board that they plan on purchasing seven vehicles from the Iowa Department of Transportation for $52,800. In turn, six vehicles will be removed from the department’s fleet.

The Board then conducted the public hearing on conveying vacated alleys and streets in Monteith. The Board approved the conveyance, as there were no objections during the hearing. They also approved quit claim deeds to Roger L. Ludwig and Michael D. Dideriksen. Other action items approved include partial self fund forms and a third party administration service agreement with Employee Benefit Systems, and a collective bargaining agreement between County Secondary Roads and the local Teamsters Union.
