The Dallas County Board of Supervisors met Tuesday morning in regular session.
The bulk of the meeting was focused on changes to the employee handbook. For the last month, the Board has been working with the Human Resources Department on updates to the handbook, mostly dealing with vacation time and compensatory time. Eventually, they came to an agreement on allowing a grace period for employees to use their accrued time over the next year, before the cap on the time decreases. They took no formal action, but will revisit the topic next week. The Board also approved union contracts with the Attorney’s Office and Emergency Medical Services Department.
At 9:30 a.m., there was a public hearing to discuss a road vacation for a section of 288th Trail east of Adel. The vacation was proposed by the adjoining landowner, who outlined his proposal during the hearing. The main hang-up the Board had was regarding a bridge connected to the road. It’s no longer in use and has portions in the County and within Adel City limits. They decided to continue the public hearing to May 29th, during which time the Board will discuss the bridge situation with City officials.
Action items on the agenda which were approved included: a contract renewal to continue Decat Restorative Justice services; setting a public hearing for a fiscal year 2018 budget amendment for May 29th at 9:30 a.m.; continuing a contract with Cintas for floor mat cleaning services; and appointments to the County Board of Health, and additional official depositories. Additionally, the Board discussed but took no action regarding a request for proposals for courthouse maintenance, and a master plan for landscaping at the Human Services Campus.
