Greene County tied for fifth place on Tuesday at the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference boys’ golf tournament held at the Tournament Course of Iowa. Senior Elijah Block and his sophomore brother, Jadon, both earned all-conference honors. Elijah shot 79 and Jadon 80, which meant top 10 finishes for both. Gilbert’s Tommy Doyle, the 2017 Class 3A State tournament medalist, was the conference medalist with an 18 hole total of 69. The other scores for Greene County counting in the team total were 102 from Curtis Muir and 108 by Ben Wilkins.

Nevada won the team title with 318 strokes, followed by PCM (Monroe) 321, Roland-Story (Story City) 333, Gilbert 338, Greene County and North Polk (Alleman) 369, South Hamilton (Jewell) 370, and 404 from Saydel (Des Moines).

The Greene County girls host the HOIAC tournament today at Jefferson Community Golf Course.
