Severe Thunderstorms rolled through northern Dallas County Tuesday afternoon, leaving some hail in its wake.

At 4:35 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was detected near Perry, moving northeast. In addition to heavy rainfall, straight line wind gusts in excess of 60 miles-per-hour, and lightning, the storm produced ping pong ball-sized hail reported by a trained weather spotter in Woodward. The storm included Northern Dallas, all of Boone, and portions of Story County. At 5:15 p.m., the warning was allowed to expire for Dallas County, though it continued for the other two counties for another 45 minutes.

Four members of the Raccoon Valley Radio Severe Weather Action Team, as well as Weather Eye meteorologists, participated in the storm coverage. There is still potential for more severe weather tonight, and if it affects our listening area, count on Raccoon Valley Radio to keep you informed and safe.
