The deadline for submitting high school track & field performances for Drake Relays consideration is 11:59 p.m. tonight. Greene County High School will have senior Megan Durbin in the girls’ high jump next Thursday afternoon, and both the girls and boys 4 x 100 meter relays could qualify as well.

This is the first year the Relays put in what they call Blue Standards, or automatic qualifying standards, for high school athletes. Durbin exceeded the 5′ 5″ Blue Standard by two inches on Tuesday at the Dallas Center-Grimes meet and her clearance of 5′ 7″ ties her for the best jump in all of Iowa this season. She won the Drake Relays high jump in 2016 and placed second in 2017.

The Relays accepts the fastest 80 entries for girls and boys in the 4 x 100 meter relays. As of yesterday, the Greene County girls were 51st in 52.29 seconds with Melanie Doran, Brianna Osterson, Lilly Muir, and Durbin. The Greene County boys were 63rd in :45.20 with Carter Morton, Lance Hughes, Tyler Teeples, and Colby Kafer.

The list of 2018 Drake Relays high school qualifiers will be released this Saturday afternoon.

Greene County is scheduled to send its girls and boys to Denison tonight for the Tiger-Knight Relays. The location was changed due to renovations at Carroll Athletic Field.
