A Granger woman was sentenced to probation for a 2016 incident.
According to court documents, 38-year-old Melissa Marie Kroupa pled guilty to an amended charge of a Class D Felony for third degree burglary. She had her five-year prison sentence suspended and was placed on probation for three years.
The sentence stems from an August 26, 2016 incident. Kroupa was seen breaking into a house in the 200 block of 3rd Street in Rippey. Her sentence hearing had to be rescheduled four times, due to Kroupa not showing up at her scheduled sentence hearings and a warrant being issued to bring her back in.
She was originally charged with a felony for second degree attempted burglary and misdemeanors for third degree burglary of a motor vehicle and interference with official acts. Court documents show, the attempted burglary charge was amended to the felony for third degree burglary and the plea agreement stated that the state would dismiss the other charges. She was also ordered to pay court appointed attorney fees, surcharges, a probation enrollment fee and court costs.
A second suspect in the case, Alan Heywood of Perry, pled guilty to a misdemeanor for trespassing and was ordered to pay a fine in February of 2017.
