Fresh off their toughest competition to date, the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers boys soccer team (3-0 overall; 1-0 RRC) continues their Raccoon River Conference season on the road this evening. The Tigers, ranked seventh in the latest Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association Class 2A poll, visits Huxley for their annual league match against the Ballard Bombers (0-3 overall). The Tigers bested the Bombers, 4-1, last spring in Adel.
The ADM boys soccer team topped Class 1A No. 4 Gilbert (4-1 overall) in overtime, 2-1, Tuesday at ADM Stadium in Adel. Both ADM goals came after officials issued a red card against Gilbert’s goalkeeper for denying Davis Barton a scoring opportunity outside the 18-yard box. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network spoke with ADM senior soccer players Barton, Gage Fuller, and Dakota Kahler after Tuesday night’s game. Fuller said getting a win like Tuesday’s can boost the squad’s confidence. “Having not played a great opponent yet, we don’t know what we can do (with the players) we have,” Fuller said, “This (win) sets a standard of where we need to be. Obviously, we had a shaky first half so that needs to get fixed but the second half set the tone for the way we need to play the rest of the season. ”
