The effects of this past weekend’s snowstorm have cost the West Central Valley golf teams a pair of nine-hole competitions already this week. Melting snow Monday afternoon forced the postponement of the Wildcats’ West Central Activities Conference triangular versus AC/GC and Madrid at the Cedar Pointe Golf Course in Boone. Yesterday provided warmer temperatures and additional sunshine, but it wasn’t enough to dry out West Central Valley’s home golf course, the 5 x 80 in Menlo. The result forced the cancellation of the Wildcats’ meet versus Earlham, North Polk, and Panorama. Before this week, the Wildcat boys and girls golf teams had completed four nine-hole events despite unfavorable weather conditions earlier in the month. West Central Valley’s golfers resume practice today in hopes of returning to competition tomorrow at the 5 x 80 course, hosting golfers from Martensdale-St Marys, Nodaway Valley, and Van Meter.
