Friday, April 13th
1:53am: A Traffic Stop at 230th and Linwood resulted in Kaleb Lentz of Scranton being cited for, “Open Container of Alcohol – Driver.”
6:15am: John Biggart reported his English Mastiff was loose and he was attempting to locate the animal.
8:42am: Kelsey Reed reported a package had been delivered to her at 1000 West Adams Street and the package had been opened. Nothing was missing from the delivered goods.
11:45am: Rich Burkhardt reported loose rock on the roadway near Cedar and Head Streets.
12:28pm: People’s Bank advised of two Counterfeit $100.00 Bills brought to the bank in a deposit. The officer is investigating.
12:57pm: Michael Hill reported a constant Barking Dog issue occurring at 501 South Chestnut Street. The officer learned that the police department had dealt with this issue numerous times in the recent past. Megan Brooks was issued a Citation for, “Barking Dog – Annoyance or Disturbance.”
3:45pm: Mike Christy spoke with an officer about a possible Sexual Assault occurring with his juvenile daughter in early November 2017. The officer is investigating.
4:01pm: Ace Hardware provided video of a Theft at 123 North Chestnut Street on April 3rd , 2018. The officer recognized the female suspect from the video and is investigating. Two tool items were taken from the business with a total loss of $106.97 reported. Charges are pending.
4:47pm: Steve Murphy reported his neighbor in the 600 Block of North Chestnut Street was burning in a burn barrel and he felt it was too windy to do so.
5:30pm: Jean Miner brought a stray cat to the LEC in an animal carrier. The animal was placed in the Animal Holding Facility by the officer.
5:50pm: The Jefferson Police Department, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, Jefferson Fire, and other local agencies assisted with severe damage from the storm in the area of the overpass. Several streets had to be closed, due to numerous powerlines down. Streets in the area were impassable, due to debris from area buildings.
5:52pm: Dennis Blum advised he had hit a parked vehicle at 1207 North Elm Street, causing very minor damage. Due to the storm damage in town, the officer could not immediately respond. Blum advised that he and the owner of the other vehicle had exchanged insurance information and handled it themselves.
7:23pm: Hy Vee reported smoke in the business at 106 West Washington Street. Jefferson Fire responded and advised there was no fire at the business and all was fine.
7:56pm: The White Oaks Station reported an elderly male was at the business at 303 North Elm Street and was out of fuel. The White Oaks Station did not have power due to the storm. The officer assisted the male in getting fuel in a gas can from Sparky’s.
8:15pm: Alan Harryman requested a Welfare Check on a female in the 700 Block of Pinet Place. The officer made contact with the female, who was fine.
11:15pm: A Traffic Stop was performed in the 200 Block of West Washington Street, resulting in Codey Savage of Pilot Mound being cited for, “Operation without Registration.”
Saturday, April 14th
3:02am: A Traffic Stop was performed in the 200 Block of North Walnut Street, resulting in Steven Wetzel of Fort Dodge being cited for, “Operation without Registration.”
4:10am: Shelly Schroeder advised her husband had caught an intruder in their garage at 504 Hickory Lane. Her husband was in a struggle with the subject and she need police to respond. The officer arrived and placed a male juvenile in custody. The 17-year- old male was charged with, “2nd Degree Burglary – C Felony.” The juvenile is also suspected to have been involved in a Burglary at the address on April 6th , 2018. That incident is still being investigated.
8:17am: Mallory Dillavou reported the window was knocked out of her vehicle as it sat at Bomgaar’s during the storm. The officer estimated the damage at $500.00.
8:22am: Mike Woodruff reported the stop sign was blown down at Elm and Edgewood Drive. The DOT was notified.
9:31am: Dennis Matthews requested a Welfare Check on a male in the 1200 Block of Riverside Drive. The officer made contact with the male, who was fine.
10:48am: An officer was advised of a Backing Accident near Vine and Clark Streets. Neither driver wanted a report made and had exchanged insurance information.
10:04pm: A traffic Stop was performed in the 200 Block of West Reed Street resulting in Tosha Hickman of Jefferson being cited for, “Operation without Registration.”
Sunday, April 15th
3:38am: An officer assisted EMS with a Medical Call in the 300 Block of East McKinley.
5:42am: An officer investigated a One Vehicle Roll Over Accident at 220th and Grimmell Road. The 2000 Ford F150 was owned and operated by Jennifer Braga of Jefferson. The vehicle suffered a reported $2000.00 in damages.
9:21am: An officer checked on an Alarm Activation at 401 South Wilson Ave. The alarm had been tripped by accident and all was fine.
9:31am: An officer assisted the Medical Examiner with a Death Investigation in the 300 Block of South High Street.
2:44pm: Nicole Johnson reported Harassment form a Des Moines male. The officer is attempting to reach the male to end the unwanted contact.
4:24pm: Carsten Williams spoke with an officer about concerns he had his ex-girlfriend does not use child restraints on his child in her vehicle.
8:51pm: Rebecca Chumley reported a Careless Driver at the drive-up window at 300 North Elm Street. The officer was provided the subjects name and spoke to his parent about the driving issues.
Monday, April 16th
9:04am: An officer removed a deceased cat from the property at 404 Sundown Court.
11:29am: An officer checked on a female walking in the 400 Block of East Russell Street, who was crying. The officer learned the female could not locate her young daughter. The officer located the juvenile at her daycare provider.
12:11pm: Nancy Halterman reported her juvenile son was entered as a runaway in December 2017. She advised that she believed he was staying at a residence in Jefferson. The officer checked with the name provided by Halterman, but did not locate the juvenile.
4:28pm: Jeanette Gerloff reported an Unauthorized Charge on her bank card. The bank had reversed the $9.99 charge and issued her a new card.
6:34pm: A caller advised of a broken window in the upstairs of 200 East State Street. The officer believed it to be storm damage and is contacting the building owner.
Tuesday, April 17th
1:27am: Scott Foresman reported a Careless Driver on North Elm Street going over the overpass. The officer located the vehicle and performed a Traffic Stop near Lincoln Way and Grimmell Road. The officer spoke to the driver about her driving habits.
1:48am: A Traffic Stop was performed at Elm and 220th Streets, resulting in Ronald Becker of Boone being issued a Citation for, “Fraudulent Use of Registration.”
1:57am: A Traffic Stop at Elm and 220th Streets resulted in Eric Chrystal of Jefferson being cited for, “Failure to Obey Stop Sign.”
10:54am: A Traffic Stop in the 900 Block of South Elm Street resulted in Shane Detlef Coil being arrested for, “Driving While Barred – Aggravated.”
11:50am: Ashley Simmons came to the LEC to report she was late to meet the School Bus and now can not find her young daughter. The officer contacted the school and learned the child had been taken back to the Elementary School.
5:06pm: Fort Dodge Car Credit requested an officer to check a Jefferson address for a car they wished to repossess. The police department does not offer this service for creditors.
5:39pm: Jon Boss reported his 2012 Volkswagen Passat had been struck and damaged. He was unaware of when or where it may have occurred and had just noticed the damage. The officer estimated the damage $3000.00 to the rear of the vehicle.
10:17pm: Ryan Tasler reported a suspicious vehicle in the 1800 Block of North Mulberry Street.
10:58pm: A Traffic Stop was performed in the 1800 Block of North El Street resulting in Nathan Asche of Fenton being cited for, “Driving While Suspended.”
