The Guthrie County Historical Village (GCHV) is about to celebrate a major milestone. The museum will be commemorating their 50th anniversary with an open house on Saturday, May 5th. The open house is from 1-4pm and there will be no admission charged.

GCHV Foundation Board member Rod Stanley highlights an item currently at the museum. “We have a picture in the museum that you can look at that was actually drawn by a runaway slave, on her impressions of what the Pearson Mill (Underground Railroad stop north of Stuart) looked like. Really, that’s the only picture that I know of that we have about that mill.”

Cake and other refreshments will be served under the Panora Depot pavillion during the celebration. To hear more about the open house and Guthrie County history, listen to Stanley on today’s Let’s Talk Guthrie County program.
