After a 4-0 start, the Class 1A fourteenth ranked Greene County boys’ soccer team lost on Monday night. Coach Carl Behne’s Rams fell at Harlan 5-0 as the Class 2A Cyclones improved to 4-0 on the season.
Coach Behne told Raccoon Valley Radio his team was lackluster from the start and Harlan led 3-0 at halftime. The Cyclones had 17 shots while Greene County managed just three shots on goal. The coach added that leading point scorer Leo Marques received a red card for what an official perceived to be unruly language and he missed the second half of last night’s match and will not play later today vs. West Central Valley. Marques is a foreign exchange student from Brazil where Portuguese is the official language.
Last night’s match was originally scheduled for Grand Junction, but was switched to Harlan. Today’s action with WCV was originally on the Rams’ schedule for Stuart, but was switched to Grand Junction. The varsity match is at 5:30 p.m. with JV to follow.
