It’s crunch time for qualification to the Drake Relays. A few members from the ACGC girls track and field team will get an extra chance to put up some last second personal bests at the Dallas Center-Grimes Filly Invitational tonight.

Head Coach Colin Shawgo talks about what he hopes the participants in tonight’s meet will achieve. “We are taking a couple throwers and a couple jumpers and then Kate Crawford. We’ll be able to see what they have and then we’re going to try to qualify Kate in a couple more events.”

Currently Crawford, a sophomore, and junior Mady McDermott are eligible to compete at Drake Stadium in the 3000 meter run and the Shot Put respectively. The cutoff time for qualification into the field in Des Moines is midnight on Friday. Tonight’s DCG invite will include the select Chargers, the host Filies, and athletes from several other schools, including: ADM, Ballard, Carlisle, Creston, Earlham, Gilbert, Grinnell, Indianola, Nevada, Newton, and Norwalk. First events begin at 4:15.
