Tensions resurfaced in Syria Sunday after a suspected chemical attack killed at least 40 people.
U.S. Congressman David Young condemns the Syrian government for the attack and expects a swift response from the Trump administration. “It’s horrific to see how there could be somebody who’s so mad and evil, (Syrian President Bashar-al) Assad, to do this to his own people. This happened about a year ago and the President and his administration, with consultation with his Secretary of Defense and other advisors, gave a very swift, measured, strong response. I expect that to happen again because we need to make sure that we respond to these things.”
Young also called out Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani for contributing to the tension in the region. While Washington has not officially responded to the attack with militarized force, President Trump has called for a larger missile presence in the country.
