A Democratic candidate for governor visited two locations in Perry Wednesday afternoon.
Dr. Andy McGuire first talked with community members at the Perry Perk coffee shop. McGuire is the third democrat vying for the nomination for Iowa governor to visit Perry this year. Among the topics she talked about was her history as a medical doctor, and how she planned to use that experience to fix the state’s healthcare issues. She then opened up the floor for questions which ranged from education, to water quality, to why voters should choose her in the June primary election.
Following the meet and greet, McGuire made a trip to Perry High School to take a tour and meet students, teachers, and administrators. She is one of six candidates in the democratic gubernatorial primary, each of whom are seeking to unseat incumbent republican Governor Kim Reynolds in the November general election.
