The Carroll Co-ed track & field invitational was held at Linduska Field in Jefferson on Tuesday due to renovations at Carroll Athletic Field. The girls’ team title came down to the final race of the night with IKM-Manning edging Greene County, and Webster City easily winning the boys’ title with Greene County finishing second.
IKM-Manning had 116 points to 110 for Greene County’s girls. Carroll had 104 points and Webster City with 101. Woodward-Granger was fifth at 45 with 43 by Perry, 38 for Roland-Story (Story City), and 32 fro Audubon.
The Lynx won the boys’ side with 137 to 97 for the Rams. Carroll was third with 90 points, followed by W-G wth 80, 69 for Perry, 66 from IKM-Manning, and 50 for Audubon.
The meet was hand-timed, so .24 seconds will be added to all running results for official purposes.
The Greene County girls won five events with senior Megan Durbin winning three times. She equaled a season best of 5′ 4″ in the high jump, and turned in season bests in winning the 200 meter dash in 27.03 seconds, and the 400 meter dash in 1:03.27. Junior Janelle Brophy went 16′ 5″ in winning the long jump in career best form. Melanie Doran won the 100 meter hurdles in :18.18.
The Rams won five boys’ events. Sophomore Colby Kafer was first in the long jump at 19′ 9-1/2″, then won the 200 meter dash in 23.62. Both were career best performances. Sophomore Carter Morton won the 110 meter high hurdles in a career best 15.96 seconds. Senior Kolin Reed and Morton both cleared 5′ 10″ in the high jump with Reed getting the victory. Junior Noah Bowen was first in the 1600 meter run in 4:48.53.
The Greene County girls go to Perry tomorrow while the boys travel to Des Moines for the Saydel Invitational.
