Michael HeardA Jefferson man was recently sentenced to probation for a 2015 incident.

According to court documents, 56-year-old Michael Lynn Heard pled guilty to an aggravated misdemeanor for assault on a peace officer causing bodily injury and a serious misdemeanor for fourth degree criminal mischief. He had his two-year prison sentence suspended and was placed on two-years of probation with the Department of Corrections.

The charges stem from an incident on November 24, 2015. A Jefferson police officer had stopped Heard on a Boone County probation violation warrant. As the officer allowed Heard to go back to his vehicle to collect some personal items, he got in his vehicle and sped off. A short chase ended by the Greene County Middle School where Heard was apprehended. A Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy suffered an injury during the struggle.
